Blogging at 30,000 feet

So I won a free session of Wi-Fi on my Delta Flight to Anaheim this week and so I thought I would take advantage of this amazing feet of technology. Seriously, how amazing is it that we have such a technology?! It really is a testimony to me that the Lord has restored the light of truth and understanding in these last days. To think that someone could be on a flight and come to Mormon.org and chat with a missionary in Provo, UT., while at 30,000 feet in the air is really quite remarkable.

On the delta trivia game that that they have playing on the satellite TV screens on the headset in front of me (another amazing technological accomplishment) I had a question about the fastest processor speed for the Intel 486 processors of the mid 90's. It was 33 MegaHertz - Only! To think that here we are only fifteen years later and we have computers that have 8 processors that are literally 1000 times faster - each processor - is just blowing my mind.

To think that in some ways this technology and all the amazing things that can be done with it is the result in part to capitalism and the desire that we as a people have to meet the needs of the people. If someone had asked me while playing Police Quest in the early 1990's if I would be sitting on an airplane, writing a blog post, on a computer that is ten times smaller and 4000 times faster than the computer I was playing police quest on I would have said - yeah right.

Well my plane is starting its decent so I must go. Perhaps it is time that all take a moment to be thankful for all the great and amazing technologies that operate in our lives each and everyday. I know I am, especially at 30,000 feet.

  1. You knew about blogs in the 90's? Sounds like some one is tight with the spirit of revelation.
